I Personally Worked On An E90 That Had This Same Symptom And The Reason Why The Transmission Code Pops Up Is Because The Impulse Sender (Crankshaft Sensor) Works In Conjunction With The Transmission Control Module.

This Is The Major Problem With This Sensor,,,It Starts To Leak Oil And The Connector Get Wet With Oil,,,,When It Get Wet With Oil,,,,The Due Gets A Fake Signal From The Eccentric Sensor,,,,I Have Seen A Couple Times,,,The Oil Gets Pumped Into The Harness And It Goes To The Dme Connector,,,,You Don’t Want That,,,,It Can Damage The Dme ,,,,If The Oil Gets Inside The Dme,,,,,Sometimes We Have.
